In the ONCE contest, all students from Spanish public, private and government-subsidised schools can participate, who are studying: Special Education, Primary (years 3 to 6), Secondary, Basic Vocational Training, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training (intermediate and higher levels).
It doesn’t matter. The topic is completely different, as well as the creative projects requested of participants, so it is in reality a totally new contest.
To participate in the contest you may submit one piece of work per classroom in the appropriate category, according to the students' academic year. In exceptional cases, work done by students in more than one category may be accepted, such as work by groups from rural schools or travelling circus school programmes, special support classes, etc.
In such cases, the class will participate in the category that applies to the majority of your students. If there is a draw, then the class will take part in the higher category.
The maximum number of participants per task will be the maximum number of students in the class established by the law in force for each level.
However, due to circumstances caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, the modality of participation may be changed to adapt to the measures that schools and colleges have to adopt to protect health. Therefore, if the school is required to divide the classroom into groups for health reasons, group/work participation may be allowed in exceptional cases. In any case, for logistical and economic reasons, the maximum number of students participating with all the groups/classroom may not exceed the maximum of 38 students per class under any circumstances.
No. To participate, a teacher from the school must register.
The programme is integrated in the educational curriculum and has been devised considering the new situation in education and digital recommendations issued to schools by Education Boards. Because of this, it entails no additional work. The teaching materials provided allow each educator to use the contents and activities in the classroom (time and resources allowing) to introduce the topics of the contest to students and to support the subsequent participatory work.
The level of involvement in supervising and helping students create the participation project will be the decision of each teacher. The teacher is only committed to explaining the activity to them and subsequently submitting the participation project to us.

Primary (3rd-6th) and Special Education:
You must create a radio advertisement lasting no more than one minute that transmits a message about the proper use of technology by minors. It will be sent online through the Teachers' Private Area as an attachment in .MP3, .MP4, .WAV, .ACC or .3GP format. The radio ad must have a title and it must be made accessible by attaching a document with the script of the ad in Word or pdf format.
Secondary (years 1 to 4):
You must design a poster (bus stop model). The advertisement must attract attention and convey a message that encourages responsible use of technology by avoiding misuse. You must submit it online through the teachers' private area in jpg format with vertical (portrait) orientation and with a maximum weight of 2 Mb. The poster must have a slogan and to facilitate accessibility you must include an audio description lasting no longer than one minute. Participants may record this audio description in the Private Area in their upload area or attach a file in .MP3, .MP4, .WAV, .AAC or .3GP format.
Baccalaureate and Vocational Training:
You must create an advertisement lasting no more than 40 seconds, to raise awareness about the responsible use of technology and the risks of misuse. You must submit it online through the teachers' private area in .AVI, .MP4 or .MOV format (formats supported by YouTube) with a maximum weight of 100 Mb. The advert must have a title and you must attach a document with the script of your advert in Word or pdf format to ensure the accessibility of the work with which you participate to people with disabilities.
Of course. After the teacher explains what the project to submit should be like, students may spend all the time they want on developing the project outside the classroom.
